The Lone Ranger riding behind schedule and over budget?
Despite the fact that Disney has already halted production on their big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger once last year amid budgetary concerns, it seems that director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are yet to learn their lesson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the budget for the Johnny Depp / Armie Hammer team-up has once again spiralled to $250m (it had previously been trimmed to $125m back in August to resolve the previous dispute), and the shoot is apparently "days or possibly weeks behind its 120-day shooting schedule" due to 'severe weather disruptions'.
With the budget ballooning, the project is facing an additional set of rewrites to help keep costs down, with an 'insider' quoted as stating: "It's out of control...but if you were going to bet on anyone, it would be on Gore, Johnny and Jerry." The trio have of course made plenty of box-office bucks for Disney,

Storyline
Rango is a pet chameleon always on the lookout for action and adventure, except the fake kind, where he directs it and acts in it. After a car accident, he winds up in an old western town called Dirt. What this town needs the most is water, but they also need a hero and a sheriff. The thirsty Rango instantly takes on the role of both and selfishly agrees to take on the case of their missing water.
This year, the Best Animated Feature Oscar nominees were a wild bunch indeed – in addition to the big budget studio fare (things like “Puss in Boots” and eventual winner “Rango”), there were two independent, foreign language films (and nothing from powerhouse Pixar). One of those animated films was “A Cat in Paris,” originally released in France way back in 2010, and it’s a charming, darkly hued trifle that offers some truly gorgeous, wholly unique visuals and reasonably emotional storytelling.
“A Cat In Paris” (which is preceded by a fantastic, incredibly Diy animated short film called “Extinction of the Saber-Toothed House Cat”) has a really wonderful concept at its core – it’s about Dino, a lovable house cat belonging to a young girl named Zoe, who at night goes out on the prowl with a burglar named Nico (Steven Blum). In the morning, back from his night spent capering,
'Rango' Collaborators Jim Byrkit & Alex Manugian Hired To Write Long-Developing 'Fraggle Rock'
After years spent in development purgatory (everyone from Ahmet Zappa to "Hoodwinked" writer/director Cory Edwards have worked on the project, from as far back as 2006), it finally looks like the "Fraggle Rock" movie, based on the beloved Jim Henson series, will make it to the big screen. Last year New Regency got the project going again, and just yesterday the Hollywood Reporter revealed that a pair of screenwriters have been secured – Jim Byrkit and Alex Manugian, who both worked on last year's Oscar-winning animated western "Rango."
Byrkit received a story credit on "Rango," alongside director Gore Verbinski and credited writer John Logan (he also worked as a storyboard artist for the film). In fact, Byrkit has done design work for Verbinski on all three of the filmmaker's 'Pirates of the Carribean' movies (and provided illustrations for Verbinski's big screen debut, "Mousehunt").
