Prometheus is a 2012 American science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. Set in the late 21st century, the story centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as they follow a star map discovered among the remnants of several ancient Earth cultures. Led to a distant world and an advanced civilization, the crew seeks the origins of humanity, but instead discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human race.

 Prometheus (2012):Summary It's official: add any "Lost" creative mind to your project, and suddenly every detail becomes part of a larger mythology steeped in layers within layers. In this case, co-writer Damon Lindelof has been the chief rumor-mill architect, offering bits of character information while we sit here and wonder just how closely Prometheus will be tied to the Alien bloodline. Ridley Scott's lips are sealed as he alludes to not just the Alien universe, but also Blade Runner's. My best guess is that Michael Fassbender's robot and a heroic Noomi Rapace are the ones left standing.

Prometheus (2012):Plot
It's good to see that Ridley Scott still has the same vision for stylistic sets and atmospheric lighting.Lots of dripping water and eery shadows as one might expect from the old master. The special effects are impressive,

 the CGI is great, the technology is plausible for the turn of the next century. But - and I'm afraid it's a big but - the plot is disjointed, the characters two dimensional and the script is, well, not the best. Far too many things happen which simply make no sense at all, or just don't tally with "what we know already" about the Alien universe.

 Far too many plot mechanisms, bits of tech and even shots and scenes are borrowed from other films - Serenity, independence day, The Mummy, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Pitch Black, X- Files. I won't go into detail because I can't do that without using spoilers, but try it yourself. Watch the film and see how many ripped off bits you can spot. Spectacular, yes. A great film? No. sadly not.

Storyline
